The Sen2-Agri operational system was a stand-alone processing chain which generated a set of products for agriculture monitoring from Sentinel-2 (S2) L1C and Landsat 8 (L8) L1T time series. These products consisted of:
- composites of cloud free surface reflectance values,
- dynamic cropland masks,
- cultivated crop type maps and area extent for main crop groups,
- biophysical vegetation status indicators, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Leaf Area Index (LAI), describing the vegetative development of crops.
The Sen2-Agri system was open-source, allowing any user to generate on their own premises products tailored to their needs. It was composed of a set of independent processing modules orchestrated by a data driven approach. These modules were designed to be re-used into other systems. The logical data flow and the main interfaces of the Sen2-Agri operational system is provided in the next figure:
The Sen2-Agri system is no longer maintained, but it is continued through the Sen4Stat project where the Sen2-Agri processors or updated versions of them are still present.
